Preparing to Paint the Exterior of Your Home
The most important step to take in painting the exterior of your home is the prep before you apply the paint. This is the most time consuming part but it will give you the beautiful results you are looking for and ensure that the exterior of your home looks it’s best for many years to come.
Firstly, this is a job that you will want to undertake once the temperature outside reaches at least 10 degrees celcius both day and night so that the paint will adhere properly. Next, you will want to ensure that you remove any old flaking paint with sanding or scraping. You will also want to caulk any holes or cracks (especially where there are any seams or frames) and hammer in any lose nails.
You may also want to pressure wash some or all areas to ensure that there is no sticky residue from tree sap or bird mess or anything like that.
