How to Pressure or Power Wash Your Home

Pressure or power washing your home is highly recommended to keep it looking fresh and new.  There are some things to keep in mind when contemplating this home maintenance project however.   But first, you can power wash any type of exterior on your home including wood, aluminium siding and vinyl.  And, it’s the ideal method to prep your home’s exterior before painting.

It is not a good idea to power wash windows because the pressure from the hose is several times stronger than a garden hose.  You also need to ensure that you cover up exterior light and electrical fixtures before getting started as well as repair any visible holes so that the water doesn’t seep in underneath and cause mold or water damage.

Also, be careful if you are pressure washing wood that is painted.  If your goal is to remove the paint or finish in order to repaint it, then that’s one thing but if your goal is to just clean it, be careful of the attachment and amount of pressure you are using.
