Prepare Your House for Sale with Painting
If you are wanting to put your home on the market and are interested in finding a buyer quickly who will pay your asking price then you are probably aware that you need to showcase your home in the best possible light. While you can hire a consultant to stage your home for you, many people prefer to take on most of the showcasing themselves to save money.
So, here are some things to consider if you are going to prep your home yourself for potential buyers. First, de-clutter as much as possible and remove as many personal items as you can. Potential buyers are more likely to see themselves living in your house if you remove personal photographs. It’s great knowing that you can go ahead and start packing even before your house is sold.
Next, clean everything floor to ceiling. It seems obvious but you may not be in the habit of cleaning in the corners of the ceiling on a regular basis or cleaning bathroom ceiling fans where cobwebs and dust can accumulate. And, consider re-painting your home inside and out.
The exterior of your home’s paint may be in good shape and if so, then that is great. But if it is looking dirty or is peeling at all, consider re-painting at least the front door, garage door and shutters. For the interior of the home, re-painting everything will make it look fresh. But, you need to paint everything in neutral shades. While you may love the colour red for painting, your potential buyers may not. Either they will get turned off or they will use this as a negotiating point to bring your price down.
