Factors to Consider in Selecting Interior Paint Colour

Selecting an appropriate interior paint colour for a room is a function of both personal taste as well as a function of a room itself.  Since bright, warm colours tend to energize, it might not be the best idea to select a bright orange colour for a bedroom, if you want to be able to rest peacefully at night.  Likewise, selecting a calming, relaxing colour like a cool mint green might not be the best choice for a home office, if you need to concentrate and perform detailed work in your in that room.

If you have rooms in your house with paint colours that invoke emotions opposite to what that room is supposed to support, either you can repaint that room or, offset the wall colour(s) with a pop of contrasting colour.  For example, a grey/blue family room’s colour can be offset by a red throw or some yellow pillows.
