DIY House Painting – What Do You Paint First?
A common concern with DIY house painters is what to paint first? When redecorating a room, if you’re not an experienced painter, it’s hard to know what to start with when painting. Do you paint the ceiling, walls or trim first?
Well the truth is that there is no hard and fast rule to what you should start with except when it comes to ceilings. You really should paint the ceiling first because you may get a bit of spray or drips on the walls so that if you’ve already painted the walls, you will cause yourself a lot of frustration.
However when it comes to the trim and walls, you will hear different opinions. At Kitchener Waterloo Painters, our preference is to paint the ceilings, then the walls and finally the trim which for us, greatly reduces or eliminates the occurrence or drips or spray on the areas already painted.
Below is great video which discusses this topic. The painter talks a lot about spraying which of course is faster but only recommended for an empty house.
