If you are a do-it-yourselfer and do your own home renovations, please make sure that you are disposing of your materials in a responsible manner.  When painting, never dispose of your leftover paint in the storm drain.  Always take leftover paint to your community’s waste disposal unit.  Or, if you have half a can or more of paint left, you can either bring it to your local Habitat for Humanity or run an ad on Kijiji if you have a full can left.  Not only is dumping your leftover paint down the drain harmful for the environment, in most communities it’s illegal.

Orange is a great colour this time of year.  The leaves are changing, pumpkins are appearing on doorsteps, you may even be inspired to paint a room orange.  To be honest, this paint colour looks great if it blends with the rest of the décor of the room.  Yesterday, I went to an open house and one of the rooms was painted bright orange.  Every other item in the room from furniture to wall hangings was dark brown or black so everything blended really well.

Interior painting can have a dramatic effect on home improvement. If you’re unsure of the colour you wish to use then a good idea is to obtain a small sample can of paint from the store and paint a small section of a wall to see how it looks. Before going gangbusters on the whole room, see what it looks like at different times of with natural light and artificial light. Then you should be able to get a good sense of what the finished room will look like.
